An original chant written for Jacqueline's daughter that also incorporates the traditional folk rhythm Sorsonet from the Baga ethnic group of the Boké region of West Guinea in Africa. Sorsonet is known as a ‘mask rhythm’ and its accompanying song is traditionally sung by young girls in the moonlight at the time of their initiation, and also after the harvest. The girls sing to thank their mothers for giving them life and bringing them up to develop their unique characters, and ask them not to be angry, for soon they will be married and leaving home. Today, Sorsonet is a popular rhythm to which both men and women dance.
